How do I generate JSON files for manual portal upload?
The current JSON workflow is the bulk generator, not a universal Download JSON button in every editor.
Navigation: Open Forms 145/146 → Forms Dashboard → relevant list → Bulk Upload/Bulk Import → Download ZIP
How to do it
- For Form 146 or Part A/D, open Bulk Upload, complete profile configuration and Select Excel, then click Preview Mapped Data.
- Choose Download ZIP in Verify Data, review naming/credit options, then run GENERATE ZIP and confirm.
- For Part C, use Bulk Import: portal mode takes Form 146 acknowledgements and offers Download ZIP; static mode uses its two workbooks.
- Save/extract the ZIP and use the appropriate manual Income Tax portal upload process.
What to expect
The browser downloads individual JSON files in a ZIP. This mode deducts the applicable credits and does not create the same WrapTax draft records as Import to Drafts.
Important details
- JSON generation is not portal submission and does not create an acknowledgement by itself.
- An Excel Export or supporting-document ZIP is a different output; do not upload those files as form JSON.
