Preparing Form 146
How do I generate a UDIN for Form 146?
The editor supports one UDIN, and the list has a separate Generate UDINs batch action.
Navigation: Open Forms 145/146 → Forms Dashboard → Form 146 List → editor → Verification → Generate UDIN
How to do it
- For one saved Form 146 without a UDIN, open Verification and click Generate UDIN.
- Complete the ICAI captcha/session step, review the firm, PAN, tax year, signing date and figures, then click Confirm & Send OTP.
- Enter the ICAI OTP and click Verify & Generate. Record the generated number if the later WrapTax save reports a failure.
- For a batch, return to Form 146 List, select 3–300 forms and click Generate UDINs.
- Review the bulk rows, use Save Draft & Send OTP, then Verify & Generate for the batch and inspect each result.
What to expect
Generated UDINs are saved to the relevant WrapTax forms when the save succeeds. Their portal mapping is a separate operation.
Important details
- A single-form Generate UDIN button is disabled until the form is saved or when a UDIN is already present.
- Do not regenerate blindly after ICAI has issued a UDIN but a later save/sync failed. Confirm the existing number first.
